From my own experience ( I'm a junkie and have been on methadone for 14 years) there is nothing you can do to make her get treatment. All you can do is let her know how you feel and if she continues to use then you should distance yourself from her. If she decides to get treatment let her know that you will be there to support her every step of the way but you cannot be around her while she destroys her life. You need to look out for yourself in this situation as well.I know it seems harsh to leave her but you can't let her bring you down or manipulate you into enabling her addiction ( which she will eventually do). Just tell her that you will do anything you can to help her get into treatment whether it be 12 step based treatment or methadone. Ask her if she would consider getting a chemical dependancy evaluation and see what they recommend. And maybe ask her if she would go to an NA meeting if you go with her for support. Tell her she doesn't need to make any commitments but just try it out. If she agrees to that, it may make her realize that she is an addict and in need of help. But then again maybe not. All you can do is give her some suggestions and try to point her in the right direction. If she is not ready though, nothing will make her get help. be patient and take care of yourself .

Hi my name is jimmy. I'm an old junkie ( sober now for 8 years ) so I can totally see this from her perspective. To be quite honest theres nothing you can really say to convince her to seek treatment. there are a few things you can do to help to "see the light". first thing I would is find as many pictures of the memories you miss the most and post them anywhere that she will be likely to see them.
You see you have to speak to her subconcious mind because her concious mind is pretty well shot, for the time being anyway . reminissing abought old times when she was sober .
If this makes sence and you begin to see a little change in mentality let me know . depending on how far she has gone over the edge you may need to go with plan B. If you feel that more drastic measures are nescessarry please let me know.. You can contact me at jimmyz2117@yahoo.com

Well i think facebook, twitter and ebay are good places to start or to try and find related articles to.
Also you could span out to the gamer side like world of warcraft.
I think it is important you balance out the argument with some positives like some people find freinds and confidence online when going through hard times, actually learn online (distance learning/open uni) or end up with a thriving online business.
You could look at the reviews/success stories on the distance learning websites as a reference.

I must say that you will get nothing from a treatment center if your heart is not into it! If you truley seek help, and want to quit whatever, habit you have a treatment center might help.If you are real serious you will just quit whatever you are doing on your own.Remember it is this easy, just don't do it.If you snort drugs, just don't snort anymore. If you smoke put out the fire.If you drink stop drinking. If you use needles, stay away from the needle, and most of all avoid all people that are into the same habit as you.Whatever you do my heart is with you.I wish you nothing, but the best. One more thing I want you to do is pray to God for guidance, and will power. You may not be religious, but I want you to do this anyway! After you pray I want you to keep faith that you will remain strong.I want you to believe that you will quit because you have a higher power on your side.Goodluck! Ginny

if you are ready to commit to being sober, you can get a lot out of treatment. you'll get a safe detox, all kinds of therapy, you'll find news ways to have fun sober, meet lots of new sober people, find out if you have a dual diagnoses and learn how to take care of yourself after you leave the program.
I've been through treatment 3 times and it's never worked for me (of course, it's never been my choice to go and i've never really wanted to be clean and sober). the relapse rate is also really high in general for treatment centers. have you tried AA/NA? sometimes that alone can work for people. best of luck to you.

Stay away from your uncle and let him hit bottom there is nothing 'you' can do. If you try to do anything it will not help him it will only hurt you.

Addicts will use and hurt anyone who helps them. Until they are ready to help themselves there is nothing anyone can do for them.
